To provide sub-surface drainage beneath planted areas as well as protection for the waterproofing membrane on the rooftop.
VersiCell drainage modules were installed to provide a drainage cavity beneath a geotextile filter fabric layer and the planting soil above. The modules’ open surface design and high internal void enables it to rapidly capture and transport excess water, preventing the roof from becoming waterlogged after heavy rains. The drainage modules also provide a protection layer for the waterproofing membrane, a root-resistant fully adhered layer of Evalon PVC/EVA terpolymer membrane, prolonging its serviceable life.
The landscape roof is not only aesthetically pleasing but also performs a vital role in reducing ambient temperature and the transference of heat to the car park level immediately below.
The landscape roof also offers environmental benefits by acting as a chemical, biological and particulate filter, filtering stormwater runoff at source, and helping to alleviate downstream problems associated with heavy downpours by prolonging residence time on the roof.
